Using Highly Migratory Species (HMS) Mobile Application - Catch Reporting
When you use HMS Mobile Application (App), certain information will be gathered and stored about your usage of the App. This information does not identify you personally. HMS receives aggregate data from the platforms that distribute our Apps (currently the iTunes Store and Google Play Store), such as the number of people who download the App and mobile set-up information (e.g., device model, App version, country, language, and mobile carrier). Please consult the privacy policies of these third parties for further information
The app records HMS fishermen?s trips and reports their catch of bluefin tuna, blue marlin, white marlin, roundscale spearfish, sailfish, and swordfish. This app allows fishermen to record their landings and releases of HMS where-ever they may be, either during the fishing trip itself or from the comfort of their own home. The information is collected because all bluefin tuna landings and dead discards, and swordfish and billfish (white and blue marlin, sailfish, and roundscale spearfish) landings must be reported to NOAA Fisheries within 24 hours of the vessel returning from the trip. The data will be retained in accordance to all applicable retention schedules.
We collect and store the following information if you use the app to report your fish. The data includes:
- trip departure date and time
- port of departure
- trip end date and time
- port of landing
- trip type
- number of fish released per trip
- landing data (such as species, measurement information, fishing information)
We do not collect GPS information in the app. HMS does not disclose, share, sell, or transfer any information about users unless required for law enforcement or otherwise required by law.
