There are several ways to get help as regards this website:

On-Page Instructions: Along with the various forms for buying new permits, renewing old permits, and checking order and permit status, there are screen instructions guiding you throughout your visit to the NMFS Permit Shop. If these instructions are not enough, refer to the help pages described next.

Help Pages: This site contains an extensive set of help pages which are designed to supplement on-page instructions. By clicking help at the top of your screen, you will see a list of topics. Many of the help pages contain step-by-step instructions on how to use NMFS Permit Shop. For instance, Buying A New Permit takes you through every step of the permit application process. Refer to the help pages whenever the on-page instructions are not enough to guide you through your visit to NMFS Permit Shop.

Frequently Asked Questions: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are questions which have been asked often of customer service representatives, and these questions and their answers are available by clicking the bulleted FAQ link on the left-hand side of most screens. If you have a particular question, very often you will find the answer here.

News: If you are looking for something which has recently changed or taken effect, check the News page. You will find summaries of several of the news articles on the home page, but in order to see the full set of articles, you need to go to the News page itself. You can go to the News page by clicking the bulleted news link on the left-hand side of most screens.

Library: The library contains reference material which may be of interest to you. Before you call or write to Customer Service, check the Library to see if the information you need is there. You can go to the Library by clicking the bulleted library link on the left-hand side of most screens.

EMail: If you cannot find the answer you need on this web site, you may wish to contact our Customer Service department. For your convenience, you will find a contact link at the top of your page. When you click on this link, the Feedback Entry screen will come up. This screen can be used to provide feedback to NMFS as well as request information.

Customer Service: You may also contact a Customer Service representative by telephone if you are having trouble using the NMFS Permit Shop. NMFS Permit Shop representative are available at 888-872-8862 (toll free) during the week from 8am to 5pm EST. If your question concerns a permit or order, please make sure to have the permit or order number with you when you place the call.

Write to Us: You can also write to NMFS. Although this option takes the longest time, it may be the most convenient way for you to contact NMFS. NMFS Permit Shop address is: NOAA -- Fisheries Headquarters Attn: Customer Service, 1315 East-West Highway SSMC3, Silver Spring, MD, 20910. If you know the name or department best suited to handle your inquiry, you should include that instead of Customer Service.
